Arrangements by the Saudi authorities indicated that female pilgrims were to leave Makkah for Mina by 12 midnight on Tuesday while their male counterparts were expected to join them in the early hours of the day.
The Arafat day, slated for Thursday, will be the beginning of the Hajj rituals while Friday has been set aside for Eid-eid Kabir celebrations.
The distance between Makkah city to Mina is eight kilometres and from Mina to Arafat it is 13 kilometres. The distances are covered by automobiles.
Speaking to Blueprint on the arrangement made by the Kebbi state Pilgrims Welfare Agency, the chairman of the agency, Alhaji Usman Bello Suru, explained that already the state contingents were mobilised to get prepared for the journey.
He said the agency has introduced an identification card for every pilgrim to avoid being mixed up with other pilgrims.
He urged them to display a sense of responsibility and maturity as it was done in previous years.
