Making the demand through their association, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), the teachers said establishing such an agency would improve their profile.
National President of the NUT, Comrade Michael Olukoya, made the demand yesterday during the inauguration of the Unity Schools’ teachers as federal wing of the union.
“The union has demanded on the federal government for a Federal Teaching Service Commission,” he said.
“We want a commission like the federal Civil Service Commission, the Judicial Service Commission, and the Legislative Commission.
“This would accord teachers and teaching the right status it deserves administratively at the federal level.”
